Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi is witnessing renewed popularity thanks to his role in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. Recently, filmmaker Farah Khan visited his home for her famous cooking vlog alongside her cook Dilip, where the two revisited memories from their early days in the industry. They fondly recalled how Rakesh and his friends would often enjoy complimentary food and drinks at Javed Akhtar’s residence.

As Farah arrived, she playfully introduced Rakesh to her audience as the “main hero of Dhurandhar.” She mentioned that although they go back a long way, they were meeting after several years. Reflecting on the past, Farah shared that she was just 15 when Rakesh, then about 25, was studying at FTII. Recalling the old days, Khan shared, “FTII se yeh log roz aate the Javed uncle aur Honey aunty ke ghar free ka khaana aur free ki daaru peene, aate the vahan par toh we used to meet all of them (They used to come every day from FTII to Javed uncle and Honey aunty’s house for free food and free drinks, and that’s where we would meet all of them).”
She further added, “He used to come with Farooq Shaikh, Satish Shah, Neena Gupta and Supriya Pathak. Humari puraani dosti hai (We are old friends) but we are meeting after a very long time.” Rakesh added that this routine went on for years.

Currently, Rakesh is enjoying the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where his portrayal of Pakistani politician Jameel Jamali has received widespread acclaim. Several of his dialogues have gone viral, and the film has become the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, earning over ₹1,750 crore globally. It ranks just behind Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Dangal.
On the work front, Rakesh was last seen in Matka King, directed by Nagraj Manjule and co-starring Vijay Varma. The show is currently streaming on Prime Video.
He will next appear in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, a romantic comedy directed by David Dhawan. The film features a star-studded cast including Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde, Mouni Roy, Rajesh Kumar, and Digvijay, and is slated for a theatrical release on May 22.
