Karakkam teaser: Mohanlal launches Malayalam`s first musical horror comedy

The official teaser for Karakkam, backed by Krownstars Entertainment and Black Turtle Productions, was officially launched on Monday by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. The movie, touted as Malayalam cinema`s first-ever musical horror comedy, promises a chilling blend of horror, humour, and high-energy chaos.

Karakkam teaser

The teaser offers a lively yet unsettling glimpse into the world of the film. At its core, Karakkam`s story follows a group of young friends whose lives are thrown into chaos after a set of uninvited spirits enters the picture. The teaser shows the group being stalked by five spirits, setting up a tense and unpredictable situation. It also indicates that these spirits are from another time, as they step into the lives of these youngsters with both mischief and menace.

As the characters are on the run, their reactions bring in a mix of fear, confusion, and even humour. As a result, Karakkam feels less like a straightforward horror and more like a chaotic ride wherein the characters are constantly trying to make sense of what’s happening around them.

The teaser is eerie and fun at the same time. The buzz around the film had already picked up earlier when Prithviraj Sukumaran shared the first look, while the soundtrack has been gaining attention too.

About Karakkam

The project is led by producers Ankush Singh and Kimberly Trinidade under Krownstars Entertainment and Black Turtle Productions. It is helmed by Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian, who is known for directing Charles Enterprises. South Indian music sensation Sam C. S. has handled both the score and songs. The film is supported by an ensemble cast that includes Sreenath Bhasi, Femina George, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Sidharth Bharathan, Shaun Romy, Bijukuttan, Manikandan R. Achari, Midhutty, and others.

The script is a collaboration between Nipin Narayanan, Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian, and Arjun Narayanan, while the story is written by Dhanush Varghese. Bablu Aju is behind the camera, while Nithin Arol handles editing duties. The songs feature lyrics from a top-tier team, including Anwar Ali, Vinayak Sasikumar, Muhsin Parari, Hareesh Mohanan, and Su.

Karakkam seems to be leaning into both its mystery and its energy. Although the release date has not been announced yet, Karakkam is set to hit theatres soon.
