Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson are preparing to bring in the Halloween season on a chilling note with Verity. Verity is based on the bestselling novel of the same name, written by Colleen Hoover, who has also authored the best-selling novel, It Ends With Us. The film is slated for release on October 2.

Adapted from Colleen Hoover`s best-selling novel, this seductive, psychological thriller follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity. After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity`s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing International, Verity is slated to release in India on October 2, 2026, in cinemas only.
Anne Hathaway`s upcoming projects
Her upcoming release is The Devil Wears Prada 2, an upcoming sequel to the 2006 film. Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the film brings back original cast members, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt.
The story is set years after the original and continues within the fashion publishing industry, focusing on the evolving media landscape and the decline of traditional print magazines. The character of Miranda Priestly remains central, navigating industry changes and shifting power dynamics.
Emily Blunt’s character is depicted in a senior executive role with significant influence over advertising, creating professional conflict. The film retains the Runway magazine setting and builds on established character arcs.
The film reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces an all-new runway of characters, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as “Lily” and “Irv” from the first film.
The film debuts exclusively in theatres in India on May 1.
