​Two killed as motorcycle rams into dumper truck on highway in Thane district 

Two persons were killed after their motorcycle crashed into a dumper truck on the Mumbai-Vadodara Highway in Maharashtra`s Thane district, police said on Saturday, reported PTI.

The accident occurred near the Mohili-Dugad stretch of the highway, where construction activity was underway on Friday, an official said.

The victims, Jishan Ansari (20) and Imran Ansari (25), were wallpaper installers and were returning from work in the Ambadi area when their two-wheeler crashed into a dumper truck involved in construction, he said, reported PTI.

The impact of the collision was severe, and the duo sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot, the official said, adding that a further probe is underway.

Two killed, one injured as silver-laden van collides with trailer in Palghar

In another incident, two persons were killed and one sustained injuries after a van transporting silver worth crores crashed into the divider and collided with a trailer on a highway in Maharashtra`s Palghar district on Friday, police said, reported PTI.

The accident occurred around 6.20 am at Charoti Bridge on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway in the jurisdiction of the Kasa police station, an official said, reported PTI.

The driver lost control, causing the van to ram into the divider on the Gujarat-bound lane, cross over to the opposite side, and collide with a trailer, Palghar Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh said.

“The van, belonging to Mumbai-based Nakoda Bullion and operated by Modison Ltd, was carrying 20 plates of silver weighing 600 kg from Mumbai to Vapi in Gujarat`s Valsad district,” he said, reported PTI.

Two occupants of the van died on the spot due to the impact of the collision, and another person sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital, Deshmukh said, reported PTI.

The valuables were recovered from the vehicle, he said, adding that a probe has been initiated into the incident.

Man killed as tractor rams into his motorcycle

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man was killed after a tractor rammed into his motorcycle on the outskirts of Beed city in Maharashtra, police said on Friday, reported PTI.

The accident occurred around 9 pm on Thursday at Antharvan Pimpri on Beed-Pimpalner road.

The deceased, identified as Rahul Sahebrao Waghmare (25), was travelling on his motorcycle from Beed town to Khande Pargaon when a tractor collided head-on with his two-wheeler, the police said, reported PTI.

Waghmare suffered severe injuries in the impact and was taken to the District Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, they said.
