​Thane: Fire breaks out in Bhoir Chawl; kitten dead, no other injuries reported 

A fire broke out on the first floor of a residence located in the Bhoir Chawl. As per Thane Municipal Corporation`s (TMC) Disaster Management Cell, the incident occurred at Shastri Nagar in Thane (West). 

As per the official statement, a fire broke out on the first floor of a residence located within the Bhoir Chawl. According to the Disaster Management Cell, the incident was reported at around 10:43. The fire broke out on the first floor of a ground-plus-one structure owned by Vijay Ramrao Gujar.

Soon after receiving the information, emergency response teams, including personnel from the Fire Department, Mahavitaran, and the Disaster Management Cell, rushed to the spot with one fire tender, two rescue vehicles, and a pickup van. Acting swiftly, the blaze was brought under control and completely extinguished after prompt firefighting efforts.

Kitten dead in chawl fire

Officials further stated that several household items were destroyed in the fire. The heat and flames also damaged the corrugated iron sheet roofing, leading to notable structural loss within the premises. Tragically, a kitten inside the house also died in the incident.

While briefing about the incident, authorities said that four family members reside in the house. Fortunately, at the time of the fire, only one woman was present inside, while the other three occupants were away for work. The officials further asserted that no injuries were reported. 

While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, officials confirmed that the situation is now under control, and further assessment of the damage is underway.

Fire breaks out at scrap godowns in Mankhurd

A fire broke out during the early hours of Friday at a cluster of scrap godowns in the Mankhurd area of Mumbai. The incident prompted a swift response from emergency services. Fire in Mankhurd was reported at around 5:04 am by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).

Level-1 fire declared 

Just a few minutes after the blaze broke out, it was being classified as a level-I emergency at 5:14 am.

According to officials, the blaze occurred at scrap dealer units located in Ekta Nagar along G M Link Road in Mandala, Mankhurd. The fire was confined to four to five ground-floor scrap material galas (units), preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
