​Mumbai weather updates: Partly cloudy skies over Mumbai; AQI stands at 86 

Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to see partly cloudy skies, with temperatures likely to range between 25 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, making for generally warm conditions through the day.

As per the Centre’s SAMEER app, the city recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 86 on Tuesday, placing it in the ‘satisfactory’ category. While air quality remains acceptable for most people, those with respiratory sensitivities may experience mild discomfort.

Moderate pollution in pockets, satisfactory overall

However, pollution levels varied across the city, with a few areas witnessing moderate air quality. Sion recorded the highest AQI at 182, followed by Deonar at 144, while Chakala reported 116, all falling under the ‘moderate’ category.

In contrast, several other locations experienced relatively better air quality. Areas including Bandra-Kurla Complex (85), Byculla (68), Colaba (73), Bandra East (77), Malad West (81), Powai (58), Worli (63), Sewri (57), and Mazgaon (69) remained within the satisfactory range.

Overall, while most parts of Mumbai continue to maintain acceptable air quality levels, a few pockets are witnessing higher pollution, highlighting uneven conditions across the city.

On April 21, 2026, Colaba recorded a minimum temperature of 25.5 degrees Celsius and Santacruz 25.2 degrees Celsius, with no rainfall reported at either station, according to IMD Mumbai.

Heatwave conditions likely to continue in Delhi

Delhi might experience its first heatwave of the year on Tuesday, with the weather office forecasting that the maximum temperature may touch 41 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature settled at 20.5 degrees Celsius, about 2.2 degrees below normal, according to official data.

The weather office has said heatwave conditions are likely to persist from April 22 to April 24, with maximum temperatures expected to rise further and reach up to 43 degrees Celsius during this period.

A heatwave is declared when the maximum temperature crosses 40 degrees Celsius.

The city`s air quality remained in the `moderate` category, with the Air Quality Index standing at 171, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

As per CPCB standards, an AQI of 0-50 is considered `good`, 51-100 `satisfactory`, 101-200 `moderate`, 201-300 `poor`, 301-400 `very poor`, and 401-500 `severe`.
