Delays and crowding plagued all three lines of Central Railway on Tuesday morning. While the work on the Dombivali crossover at the derailment site went on, delaying trains on the main line, work of pre-interlocking near Khardi delayed the Kasara line. The harbour line too was delayed due to last-minute cancellations of trains.
After the derailment in Dombivli, delays continued for a second day on Central Railway, with heavy crowding reported across stations as commuters faced long waits and disrupted morning travel.

While the chaotic situation across Mumbai`s local train networks continues, commuters across the suburban rail network faced sheer inconvenience as delays and overcrowding disrupted services on all three lines of the Central Railway.
Train delays continue on Second day
The chaotic situation comes a day after the coach of an empty local train derailed on Monday near Dombivli station, causing major disruptions.
Slamming the railway authorities, commuters said that there were multiple cancellations from Dombivli on Tuesday. Whereas the officials further highlighted that the problem was being fixed.
“I contacted the Dombivli RPF and the station master in the morning and asked them to send a special train from Kalyan as the Dombivli trains have been cancelled,” Lata Argade, president, Suburban Railway Passengers’ Federation, said.
Kasara line
Work on the pre-non-interlocking work for the third line at Khardi has delayed trains on the Kasara line as well, with commuters complaining of longer wait times and no trains arriving for 20 min.
A new 13.53-km third line between Kasara and Khardi is set to be electrified on May 12, with commissioning to follow after statutory clearances from the Commissioner of Railway Safety, CRS, soon. This line will be useful to segregate the suburban and mail express trains at the crucial Kasara point. The block works for the entire ongoing week has been taken towards the completion of this project.
Harbour line
A huge crowd was at the CBD-Belapur railway station as the train for Wadala, which was coming from Panvel through Platform No.2 got cancelled as it was changed to Carshed in Belapur, and all the passengers were asked to get down. Now all the passengers of that train are waiting for another train to continue their journey. Huge Crowd at Platforms No. 2 and 3 at CBD Railway Station.
Railway officials were seen working at multiple sites to restore normalcy, but commuters continued to bear the brunt of delays, overcrowding, and uncertainty during peak hours on Tuesday.
