Mumbai continued to experience warm and dry weather conditions on Tuesday, with maximum temperatures crossing the 34 degrees Celsius mark across key observatories and several suburban locations, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
At the IMD’s Colaba observatory, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.2 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a relative humidity of 57 per cent. Meanwhile, the Santacruz observatory registered a slightly higher maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius. Notably, no rainfall was recorded at either station during the 24-hour period ending Tuesday morning.
Suburban areas record higher temperatures
Several parts of Mumbai’s suburban belt witnessed even higher temperatures, indicating a steady rise in heat levels across the city. The highest temperature was recorded in Ram Mandir at 37.1 degrees Celsius, making it one of the hottest locations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region for the day.
Other areas also reported elevated temperatures, with Vikhroli, Vidyavihar, Chembur, and Dahisar each recording 35.4 degrees Celsius, while Bandra registered a slightly lower but still warm 34.9 degrees Celsius.
With temperatures hovering in the mid-30s and humidity levels remaining moderate, Mumbai is experiencing typical pre-summer heat patterns.
At 44.2 degrees Celsius, Akola sees day`s highest temperature in India
Parts of Maharashtra are reeling under intense heat, with Akola city in the Vidarbha region recording the maximum temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the highest in the country for the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Along with Akola, three other cities in the state – Amravati (44), Wardha (43.9) and Nagpur (43.4) – occupied the top four spots in the country in terms of the highest maximum temperature for the day, it said.
Officials said mercury levels are set to go up and heatwave conditions will prevail over most districts of Vidarbha.
Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh was also at the fourth place with 43.4 degrees Celsius, as per the information provided by the IMD`s Nagpur centre.
These places were followed by Solapur, which saw the maximum temperature of 43.3 degree Celsius, Malegaon (in Nashik) 43.2 and Beed in Maharashtra 43.1 degrees Celsius, all in Maharashtra.
