Mumbai: BMC CBSE schools record 92.89 per cent pass rate in Class 10 exams

Schools run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have recorded an overall pass percentage of 92.89 per cent in the Class 10 board examinations this year, according to officials from the civic body.

Strong performance across 11 civic schools

As per the BMC’s Education Department, a total of 339 students from 11 CBSE-affiliated municipal schools appeared for the examination. The results reflect steady academic performance across these schools, with several students scoring above 95 per cent.

Among the top performers, Arya Lamne from Mithagar CBSE School secured the highest marks with 97.8 per cent. Other high scorers include Saurabh Yadav (97.2 per cent) from Poonam Nagar School, Kaustubh Tripathi (97 per cent) from Rajawadi School, Aryan Mayekar (96.6 per cent) and Shreya Singh (96.4 per cent) from Poonam Nagar School, and Mahi Solanki (96.2 per cent) from Mitha Nagar School.

Four schools achieve 100 per cent results

The BMC stated that four of its CBSE-affiliated schools achieved a 100 per cent pass rate this year. These include schools located at Bhawani Shankar Road in Dadar, Rajawadi in Ghatkopar, Mitha Nagar in Mulund, and Poonam Nagar in Andheri.

Officials noted that the consistent results across multiple schools indicate improvements in teaching outcomes and student preparedness.

Improvement in core subjects

According to BMC officials, students showed notable progress in core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and English. Additionally, some students secured full marks in Marathi, highlighting strong language proficiency.

The civic body attributed the overall performance to a combination of sustained academic efforts, structured teaching practices, and support systems put in place by schools. “The results reflect the collective efforts of students, teachers, and parents, along with academic initiatives undertaken by the Education Department,” a BMC official said.

Civic officials extend congratulations

Senior civic officials, including Mayor Ritu Tawde, Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, Education Committee Chairperson Rajeshree Shirwadkar, Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Avinash Dhakne, and Deputy Commissioner (Education) Prachi Jambhekar, have congratulated the successful students.

In a statement issued by the BMC, the officials commended the efforts of students and teachers and expressed hope that the performance trend would continue in the coming years.

The BMC-run CBSE schools have, in recent years, focused on improving academic standards and expanding access to quality education within the municipal system. Officials said the latest results are a reflection of these ongoing efforts.
