Central Railway’s Mumbai Division earns Rs 570.42 crore revenue in April 2026

Central Railway’s Mumbai Division recorded total earnings of Rs 570.42 crore in April 2026, registering an 8 per cent increase compared to Rs 528.17 crore earned during the same month last year, officials said on Saturday.

According to Central Railway, the growth was driven by higher earnings from coaching revenue, ticket checking drives and non-fare revenue initiatives undertaken across the division.

Coaching revenue rises over 10 per cent

Officials said coaching revenue for April 2026 stood at Rs 353.06 crore, up 10.12 per cent from Rs 320.60 crore recorded in April 2025.

Other coaching revenue also saw a sharp rise of 41.26 per cent, increasing to Rs 50.33 crore from Rs 35.63 crore during the corresponding period last year.

Ticket checking revenue jumps 165 per cent

Mumbai Division also witnessed a significant rise in ticket checking revenue, which surged by 165.89 per cent to Rs 16.13 crore in April 2026, compared to Rs 6.07 crore earned in April 2025.

Non-fare revenue records steady growth

On the non-fare revenue front, the division earned Rs 13.44 crore in sundry revenue in April 2026, reflecting a 15.63 per cent increase over Rs 11.62 crore earned in the same month last year.

Officials said non-fare revenue alone reached Rs 10.27 crore, marking a 32.38 per cent rise from Rs 7.76 crore recorded in April 2025.

Advertising, station contracts boost earnings

Central Railway attributed the increase to multiple commercial initiatives, including Out of Home (OOH) hoarding contracts at Thane, Panvel, Trombay and Targhar stations, which generated Rs 3.55 crore for a five-year period.

The division also awarded contracts for exterior vinyl wrapping of EMU rakes worth Rs 88.69 lakh for five years. Advertising contracts on Train No. 22229 Vande Bharat Express and interior advertisements on Mahanagari Express also contributed to the earnings.

New commercial facilities introduced

Additional revenue-generating initiatives included Rail Display Network contracts at Nilje and Targhar stations, gaming zone facilities between Dombivli and Thakurli stations, grocery and photocopier stores at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kasara and Vasind stations, and emergency medical room facilities at several suburban stations.

Relaxation massage chair facilities at Matheran railway station

Officials said the division also introduced relaxation massage chair facilities at Matheran railway station as part of its non-fare revenue strategy.
