Actress Urvashi Rautela is currently receiving praise for her role in Inspector Avinash 2, and the actress says the second season will continue the realistic and performance-driven tone that audiences appreciated in the first instalment. In an exclusive conversation with mid-day, Urvashi opened up about embracing a minimal makeup look for the series, taking on challenging roles, and her desire to star in a grand period drama in the future.
Urvashi Rautela talks about her zero makeup look
Talking about her appearance in the show, Urvashi revealed that she intentionally kept her look extremely natural. “It’s going to be an extension of season 1. And in season 1, everyone appreciated it a lot. It was a very simple look,” she shared. The actress further explained that several scenes were shot in difficult conditions without relying on glamour or heavy makeup.
“As you can see, there are a lot of scenes in it. Like me and Randeep Hooda standing under the rain. There is literally no makeup on my face. Zero makeup. Only lip balm and just like a hint of kajal,” she said.
Interestingly, Urvashi added that her close friends and family have often encouraged her to embrace a more natural appearance. “My family and friends around me always say, ‘Urvashi, you look way better without makeup than in makeup. Stop doing all this makeup.’ They say it makes me look bad in makeup,” she laughed.
Urvashi Rautela wants viewers to notice her performance
The actress revealed that audiences had also responded positively to her natural look in the first season, and she expects a similar reaction this time as well. “When season 1 was released, the audience also gave the same response. I think the same response is going to be given in season 2. Especially because there are a lot of scenes in it. I really hope people will talk about my performance and critics will talk about my performance,” she said.
Urvashi also emphasised that she prefers taking up roles that challenge her as an actor instead of choosing easier projects. “Performance-driven, meatier roles challenge you as a person, and that’s where the creative satisfaction comes from,” she explained.
She added, “I’m not that kind of person who thinks there’s easy money and we should avoid difficult stuff. I actually believe in doing difficult things.”
Drawing a comparison with her fashion choices, the actress said she similarly enjoys pushing herself through elaborate red-carpet appearances. “No other actresses wear outfits as heavy as I do. My outfits are very uncomfortable and heavier, but I think it defines me as a person because I like challenging myself,” she said.
Speaking about balancing multiple careers, Urvashi shared, “Apart from being an actress, I’m also a supermodel, into fashion, a two-time Miss Universe India, and the youngest judge in the history of Miss Universe. I do many things.”
The actress also revealed that she dreams of playing a historical or mythological character in the future. “I really want to play a goddess, princess, or queen in a period drama, maybe with a love story and action sequences,” Urvashi concluded.
