Shruti Sinha says love for Campus Beats helped her overcome injury and pressure

Shruti Sinha has emerged as one of the most loved faces of Campus Beats, with audiences praising her performance and emotional depth in the latest season. While the actress has been part of the entertainment industry for years through reality shows, advertisements, and social media, she now considers Campus Beats her true acting debut.

Shruti Sinha reflects on her journey

Reflecting on her journey, Shruti admitted that acting was always the reason she came to Mumbai, but life took her in different directions over the years. “I came to Bombay to act. I did my first show in 2016, which I don’t really talk about. Then I did a lot of ads and reality shows. I was earning money through social media, but then it hit me what am I doing? I need to get back to acting because this is something I really enjoy,” she shared.

The actress revealed that after taking a long break from acting, she struggled with self-doubt and constantly second-guessed herself. “I don’t show it externally. People think I’m very confident, but internally I second-guess every single thing that I do,” she confessed. Shruti added that her confidence slowly returned while working on Campus Beats, especially after receiving encouragement from the show’s creative team.

Calling the series “technically my first show,” she recalled how a positive reaction to one of her auditions surprised her. “When ma’am told me my audition was actually good, I was shocked. I kept thinking, ‘Did I really do it right?’”

On shooting with physical injury

Season 6, however, came with a major challenge. Shruti revealed that she was shooting while dealing with an injury, making even simple movements physically and mentally exhausting. “It was honestly a mental battle. Some days, just walking straight without falling felt like a task,” she admitted.

Despite the pain, the actress pushed through because of her love for the show and the support of the people around her. “I genuinely don’t know how I managed it. But the environment around me made me feel supported. Even if I was questioning myself, there were people showing belief in me. I think the love for this show made me do it,” she said.

Shruti also opened up about how audience reactions changed her understanding of certain scenes and relationships in the show. Recalling one moment initially perceived as “creepy” or “stalker behaviour,” she said conversations with co-stars helped her see it differently. “Later, I realised it was actually sweet because the character was deeply in love. It completely changed my perspective,” she explained.

The actress believes that the beauty of Campus Beats created by Palki Malhotra lies in how differently audiences connect with its characters and situations. “Every person relates to something different. We met people from every age group from an 11-year-old girl to a man in his 60s who told us they loved the show,” she shared.
