​Mumbai weather update: IMD sounds yellow heatwave alert for city, Thane 

Mumbai is likely to witness partly cloudy skies during the morning hours, turning mainly clear by the evening, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in Mumbai and Thane, warning of rising temperatures and hot weather in the city and suburbs.

The IMD has forecast a maximum temperature of around 36 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Mumbai’s air quality remained in the `satisfactory` category on Friday morning. According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer App, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 52 at 8 am.

While the air quality is considered satisfactory, it may cause minor breathing discomfort to sensitive individuals.

In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Thane recorded an AQI of 84, while Navi Mumbai registered 68, both remaining within the satisfactory category.

Maharashtra weather update: IMD issues heatwave alerts; rain, thunderstorms likely in several districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts for heatwave conditions across several districts in Maharashtra, warning of rising temperatures and hot weather conditions on Friday.

Palghar, Raigad under heat alert

Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad are under a yellow alert for heatwave conditions, while Ratnagiri has been issued an alert for light to moderate rainfall.

Thunderstorm warning for Konkan

Sindhudurg is also under a yellow alert, with the IMD forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rainfall, and gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kmph at isolated places.

Rain likely in Pune, Kolhapur ghats

Pune and its ghat regions have received a rainfall alert, while Kolhapur and nearby ghat areas are likely to witness thunderstorms.

Yellow alert in several districts

Districts including Sangli, Solapur, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv are also under yellow alert, with thunderstorm activity expected in isolated areas.

Several regions to continue reeling under heat

While several parts of the state are likely to receive rain, other districts are expected to continue experiencing intense heatwave conditions.

Akola, Amravati, Hingoli, Wardha, Parbhani, Jalna, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar remain under the IMD’s yellow alert for heatwave conditions.
