Mini Mathur reacts to rumours of trolling Alia Bhatt over award show stint

Alia Bhatt became the centre of trolling and discussions after she hosted a live awards show. Amid the backlash, actor-host Mini Mathur`s comment went viral, which many believed was a dig at actor Alia Bhatt for her hosting stint at the awards. The narrative spread like wildfire on the internet after Mini left a comment on a content creator`s Instagram post. Days after the incident, Mini has now reacted to the allegations of taking a jibe at Alia.

Mini Mathur`s viral comment

An Instagram content creator named Janani posted a video of Alia from the award show, criticising her performance. In the caption, she opined, “Bollywood awards shows keep putting actors in host seats and wondering why it feels awkward. Being charming on screen and being able to command a live stage are two completely different skills.”

She went on to add, “There`s a reason the West has professional hosts. Hosting requires improv, timing, and the ability to recover when a joke doesn`t land. That`s a craft. And it`s not the same craft as acting. This isn`t about Alia. It`s about an industry that confuses fame with versatility, and sets people up to fail.”

But what sparked a buzz was Mini Mathur commenting on the influencer`s post. Mini dropped a simple yet impactful comment that read, “Thank you. Someone finally said it.”

However, Mini has now cleared her stance. While talking to Hindustan Times, she denied the claims of throwing shade at Alia, calling the speculation “rubbish”. She clarified, “To just create stories out of nothing is what the internet does.”

She further explained, “I will tell you why I commented… the creator had an interesting take on why award shows insist on using actors as hosts and then later complain about them falling short of their `expectations.` It is not their main skill set, so why the expectations? It’s like asking a host to act at gunpoint. I only commented on that.”

Responding if she has an alleged beef with Alia, Mini said, “It is all nonsense. I love Alia. On top of this, I have not even seen the show these people are talking about on the internet.”
