In a major change for upcoming board examinations, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is planning to reduce the printing length of Class 10 SSC and Class 12 HSC question papers.
While the font size, number of questions, and overall format of the papers will remain unchanged, the board plans to redesign the layout in a format similar to regular textbooks.
Board aims to reduce printing costs
“Nearly Rs 25 crore is spent on printing board examination papers every year. We aim to cut these costs without changing fonts or making the question papers any less legible,” said Trigun Kulkarni, chairperson of the Maharashtra board.
Printing costs likely to drop significantly
Officials said the size of the question paper booklets will be reduced, which is expected to bring down printing costs by nearly 50 to 60 per cent.
