Dhanush is currently promoting his upcoming thriller Kara, which is all set to hit the screens on April 30. However, days before release, the film has faced a legal roadblock. Dhanush’s film Kara is facing a title dispute after a producer moved the Madras High Court, claiming he had registered the title earlier and warning of audience confusion.
Dhanush’s Kara title dispute
A report in ETimes stated that producer Vengai Ayyanar filed the case on behalf of a Salem-based production banner. As reported by The Hindu, in his petition, he stated that he had already registered the title Kara with the Producers’ Council back in 2021. He also claimed that he has been developing a film under the same title, featuring actors like Master Mahendran and Motta Rajendran. According to him, using the same or a similar title for Dhanush`s film could confuse audiences. He further mentioned that his earlier complaints to the Producers’ body received no proper response.
After failing to sort out the issue in the Tamil Film Producers’ Council, a petition was submitted to the Madras High Court requesting that the movie be stopped due to a title dispute. The plea clearly urges that the makers should not be allowed to release the film without resolving the title issue. The case is expected to come up for hearing soon.
