Veteran comedy actor Dinesh Hingoo, who has a career spanning 1967–2010, is famous for a filmography featuring over 300 films. The 86-year-old actor recently revealed that he still has to step out to work as he needs money to visit the doctor. However, his wife has clarified that he is well-settled and there must have been a misunderstanding.
Dinesh Hingoo says he needs money to go to the doctor
In a video that is making the rounds, Dinesh Hingoo can be heard saying, “I am 86 years old. I go out sometimes to work. I fell down recently and got injured. It is fine now, but I need money to go to the doctor.” He added, “Doctor kabhi 5000 Rs mangte hai kabhi Rs 6000. Character artists ko itne paise nahi milte [they don`t get so much money. I worked in black and white films. I have worked in Gujarati and Rajasthani movies.”
Dinesh Hingoo also shared that he still steps out to work sometimes, at the age of 86. “Doctor ke paas jaane ke liye maal chahiye (Need money to go to the doctor),” he shared, adding, “Jaata hoon kabhi kabhi, bulaya aaya toh. (I go if they call me).”
The video sparked concern across the film industry. However, the clip is believed to be around two months old, in which the 86-year-old actor is seen interacting with a fan.

As the clip spread online, several industry members expressed concern and came forward to offer support to the veteran actor. However, his wife has now offered a fresh clarification, suggesting that the situation may have been misunderstood.
Senior industry member Rajesh Vasani of Paras Publicity shared an update after speaking to the actor`s family. In his Facebook post, Vasani wrote, “I managed to get in touch with Mrs Jamuna Dinesh Hingoo through Aruna Irani. She clarified that the family is well-settled, with two sons and grandchildren, and he`s doing absolutely fine. It appears there may have been a misunderstanding in the reports. She expressed her gratitude to everyone for their concern and for remembering Dinesh bhai and his contributions.”
He also emphasised that Hingoo`s wife, Jamunaben, is a respected Gujarati stage artiste, well-known for her work in plays such as Prit Piyu Ne Panetar, where she portrayed the Japanese character Miss Mikotaka.
