Central Railway on Friday announced that its Mumbai division will operate a mega block on Sunday, May 17, 2026, on its Main Line and Harbour Line in Mumbai to carry out essential engineering and maintenance works.
The block will affect suburban and some long-distance train services between Thane, Kalyan, Panvel and Vashi, with several trains being diverted, delayed or cancelled during the day.
Main Line block between Thane and Kalyan
The mega block on the UP and DOWN fast lines between Thane and Kalyan will remain in place from 10.40 am to 3.40 pm.
During this period, Down fast and semi-fast services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 9.34 am and 3.03 pm will run on the slow line between Thane and Kalyan.
These trains will additionally halt at Kalva, Mumbra and Diva stations.
Services are expected to arrive around 10 minutes late.
Similarly, the UP fast and semi-fast services leaving Kalyan between 10.28 am and 3.40 pm will also be diverted via the slow line.
These trains will stop at Diva, Mumbra and Kalva before being redirected again at Mulund.
Passengers can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Mail and Express trains to be diverted
Several Mail and Express trains will also face route diversions during the block period.
Down Mail and Express trains departing from CSMT or Dadar will operate via the 5th line between Thane and Kalyan.
UP Mail and Express trains arriving towards CSMT or Dadar will use the 6th line between Kalyan and Thane.
Harbour Line services to remain cancelled
A separate mega block will be carried out on the UP and DOWN Harbour lines between Panvel and Vashi from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm. The Port Line will remain operational.
The following services will remain cancelled during the block:
Harbour Line
– UP services towards CSMT leaving Panvel between 10.33 am and 3.49 pm
– DOWN services towards Belapur and Panvel leaving CSMT between 9.45 am and 3.12 pm
Trans-Harbour Line
– UP services towards Thane leaving Panvel between 11.02 am and 3.53 pm
– DOWN services towards Panvel leaving Thane between 10.01 am and 3.20 pm
Special services arranged for passengers
Central Railway said special local trains will operate between CSMT Mumbai and Vashi during the block period to reduce inconvenience to commuters.
Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations will also continue operating.
Railway officials said the maintenance work is necessary for infrastructure safety and upkeep and appealed to passengers to cooperate during the disruption.
