BLACKPINK Jisoo shines at Cannes, becomes first Asian to win Rising Star Honour

Jisoo made a striking appearance at the Cannes International Series Festival, earning global attention not just for her fashion but also for a historic career milestone. The K-pop star and actor received the prestigious Madame Figaro Rising Star Award, becoming the first Asian artist to achieve this honour at the event.

Jisoo earns this honour at Cannes

Dressed in an elegant ensemble, Jisoo walked the red carpet with poise, drawing praise from international media and fans alike. Her presence at Canneseries marked a significant moment in her acting journey, especially following her recent projects, including her lead role in the drama Boyfriend on Demand. The award recognises emerging global talent in television, and Jisoo’s win signals her growing influence beyond music into acting on an international stage.

During her appearance, Jisoo reportedly expressed gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging the support of fans and her team. While she has already established herself as a global music icon with BLACKPINK, her transition into acting has steadily gained momentum, with critics and audiences noting her improving range and screen presence.

However, her achievement comes at a time when she is also facing indirect controversy linked to her brother, Kim Jung-hoon. Allegations involving him recently surfaced online, sparking widespread discussion and, in some cases, dragging Jisoo into the narrative. Reports suggested he was under investigation over alleged misconduct, which quickly became a trending topic across social media platforms.

All about her brother`s controversy

Amid the growing speculation, Jisoo’s agency, Blissoo, issued a strong statement distancing the star from the matter. The agency clarified that she has “no connection whatsoever” to the case and emphasised that much of the circulating information is unverified or false.

Despite the controversy, Jisoo maintained her professional commitments, focusing on her work and public appearances. Her Cannes outing, in particular, stood out as a defining moment, reinforcing her position as a global star capable of navigating both acclaim and scrutiny.

The juxtaposition of celebration and controversy highlights the pressures faced by global celebrities, where personal and professional narratives often collide. Even so, Jisoo’s Cannes recognition underscores her continued rise in the entertainment industry, proving that her artistic achievements remain firmly in the spotlight.
