Actors Tessa Thompson, Owen Cooper and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are set to star in upcoming psychological thriller “Foxfinder”, directed by Aoife McArdle of “Severance” fame. McArdle is co-writing the screenplay with Dawn King, on whose award-winning 2011 play the film is based.
The play won the Papatango New Writing Prize that year, reported Variety. The film is described as an exploration of the absurdity of state control and societal conformity. It follows a grieving couple whose lives unravel when a coldly devout government agent — a “foxfinder” — arrives at their struggling farm to root out the designated enemy, the fox. As paranoia deepens and absurd regulations tighten, suspicion replaces love and truth itself begins to warp. Production is set to begin in Bavaria, Germany, in summer 2026.
“Foxfinder” is a Rabbit Track Pictures and Elation Pictures production, developed with Film4 and the BFI. It is co-produced by Komplizen Film and Trimafilm, with financing from Logical Pictures Group, the German Federal Film Fund, Bavarian fund FFF Bayern and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
The project is launching at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, with Cornerstone and Logical Pictures Group co-representing international sales and distribution. Thompson is best known for her roles in “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Hedda”, whiel Cooper recently drew widespread acclaim for his performance in “Adolescence”. Moss-Bachrach is known for “The Bear” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”.
