Rohit Saraf to make Telugu debut with Prasanth Varma`s Mahakali

RKD Studios and filmmaker Prasanth Varma continue to build momentum around Mahakali, the next chapter from the world of Hanu-Man, as Rohit Saraf comes on board for the film, marking his debut in the Telugu film industry. The actor has commenced shooting for the film in Hyderabad, marking a significant new arc in its expanding narrative. Considering the range that Saraf has built so far, he is poised to add a sense of maturity and intrigue to the upcoming spectacle.

About Mahakali

With Rohit Saraf’s addition, the film strengthens its ensemble while widening its appeal across audiences. The actor enjoys a strong following in the North, particularly among the youth, further anchoring the film’s pan-India reach.

The film also stars Akshaye Khanna and Bhoomi Shetty in pivotal roles, with their first looks already generating intrigue for their striking and intense visual appeal.

Mounted on a grand cinematic scale, Mahakali is being produced by RK Duggal and Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under the banner of RKD Studios, as part of Prasanth Varma’s vision to expand a uniquely Indian cinematic universe following the success of Hanu-Man.

The film is progressing steadily and is positioned as one of the most anticipated upcoming pan-India projects.

Akshaye Khanna on playing Shukracharya

It turns out that Akshaye Khanna was drawn to the film’s ambitious world, and more so to his character’s complexity. He is going to play the guru of the asuras, Shukracharya.

This is set to be his maiden Telugu film, as well as his first mythological superhero action movie. Excited about joining the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, he began shooting for Mahakali in May 2025.

A source told mid-day, “Choosy as ever, Akshaye agreed to play Asura guru Shukracharya as he was intrigued by the role. In Hindu mythology, he was the revered teacher of the Asuras and advised them in their battles against the gods. His primary role was to revive the dead demons, while Maa Kali’s role was to destroy the demon army. That put them on opposite sides of the conflict. Shukracharya is considered a knowledgeable sage rather than inherently evil. He is a misunderstood character in Indian scriptures, and Akshaye loved that complexity.”
