`Zinta`s team won kya?`: Actress Preity finally responds to Salman Khan`s viral 

Come IPL season, one tweet that always makes the rounds is Salman Khan’s one-liner from 2014. Over a decade ago, Salman had posed a question during the IPL season, inquiring about his friend and actor Preity Zinta’s team’s match status. Zinta has been the co-owner of the Punjab Kings since its inception. Now, 12 years later, she has finally responded to the tweet.

Back on May 28, 2014, Salman had tweeted, “Zinta’s team won kya?” That day, the playoff between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, owned by Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, was held. The match was won by KKR, who went on to defeat Punjab Kings again in the final on June 1, 2014.

On Thursday, Preity Zinta expressed her happiness after her team defeated five-time champions Mumbai Indians in a match held on April 16.

The Mumbai Indians suffered a defeat in Match 24 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Preity took to X to share her excitement and praised the team’s composure and standout performances by Prabhsimran Singh and Arshdeep Singh. She also lauded skipper Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting for their leadership.

She shared a selfie featuring her standing in front of a TV with the match playing. The actress was seen smiling ear-to-ear.

Preity wrote,  “Yes Yes Yessss. Congratulations punjabkingsipl for this win. So much maturity from prabhsimran_84 & wow arshdeep.singh_. Happy to see you shine. Amazing teamwork under the capable leadership of Sadda Sarpanch @shreyasiyer96 & @rickyponting. That was an awesome catch, Shreyas! Best I’ve ever seen. I’m grinning ear to ear.”

In the comments section, a user reminded her of the viral Salman Khan tweet from 2014. Reacting to it, the actress happily replied, “Yes yes yes.”

About the match

Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer, who had scored half-centuries in the previous game, continued their strong form. Prabhsimran remained unbeaten on 80 off 39 balls, while Iyer scored 66 off 35 deliveries as Punjab Kings chased down 198/3 in 16.3 overs.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians had posted 195/6, powered by an unbeaten 112 by Quinton de Kock and a fifty by Naman Dhir.

Their 139-run partnership for the third wicket ensured Punjab Kings secured the win with 21 balls to spare, marking their fourth win in five matches and keeping them unbeaten in the tournament.
