Television producer Asit Kumarr Modi has reacted to the controversy sparked by actor Urvashi Dholakia over alleged late-night construction activity in Mumbai’s Juhu area, firmly denying any involvement with the property in question.
The issue began when Urvashi took to social media to raise concerns about ongoing construction work in her neighbourhood, describing it as a “midnight horror” that has been disrupting residents’ lives. In her posts, she alleged that the activity reportedly involving heavy machinery, drilling, and trucks continued late into the night, affecting sleep and daily routines. She also questioned whether proper permissions were in place and claimed that repeated complaints to authorities had not led to any action.

Expressing her frustration, Urvashi wrote an open letter highlighting the impact on the community, stating that the disturbance had made life “intolerable and unlivable” for residents. She further alleged that construction norms, which restrict work during late hours in residential areas, were being ignored. The actor even claimed she contacted the police in the early hours, but did not receive assistance, raising concerns about enforcement of rules.
A statement was issued by the Mr. Jignesh and the appointed contractor, M/S Mehta & Co, that the property doesn`t belong to Asit Kumarr Modi, “The property in question does not belong to Asit Kumarr Modi and is being constructed by Mr. Jignesh and appointed contractor, M/S Mehta & Co., with all requisite approvals in place. We strongly object to the unnecessary mention of Asit Kumarr Modi’s name in a matter entirely unrelated to him. The allegations made by Urvashi Dholakia are baseless and misleading.”

As the controversy gained traction and his name was linked to the property, Asit Kumarr Modi issued a clarification distancing himself from the matter. Addressing the allegations, he said, “I have no connection with the property,” making it clear that he is not associated with the construction work under scrutiny.
His response comes amid growing discussion around the incident, with some reports also suggesting that the property may belong to other individuals, not the producer. The clarification aims to dispel confusion and ensure that he is not held responsible for the alleged violations.
The episode has sparked a broader conversation about construction regulations in residential areas and the challenges residents face when rules are not strictly followed. Urvashi’s public stance has drawn attention to the issue of noise pollution and civic accountability, while Asit Kumarr Modi’s statement presents a contrasting perspective, distancing himself from the controversy.
