Punjabi singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, was found dead six days after she was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint in Punjab. The 29-year-old singer’s body was recovered from the Neelo Canal on Tuesday, with police suspecting that the crime was linked to a rejected marriage proposal from a man identified as Sukhwinder Singh.
About Inder Kaur’s death
According to a report by PTC Punjab, the 29-year-old singer had been missing since May 13. Her family identified her body after it was recovered from the Neelo Canal on Tuesday morning at around 11 am. The body has since been sent to the Civil Hospital in Samrala for postmortem examination and other legal procedures.
As per the police complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Jotinder Singh, the singer had left her home in her Ford Figo car at around 8:30 pm on May 13 to buy groceries, but she never returned. After her disappearance, the family raised suspicion against Sukhwinder Singh, also known as Sukha, a resident of Bhaloor village in Moga. The accused is not singer Sukhwinder Singh, but another individual with the same name who had allegedly been persistently pressuring Inder to marry him.
The two reportedly got in touch through Instagram nearly three years ago and eventually became friends. However, Inder allegedly cut all ties with Sukhwinder after learning that he was already married and had children. She had also turned down his marriage proposal.
According to a report by India Today, investigators suspect that Sukhwinder travelled from Canada to Punjab through Nepal with the intention of carrying out the crime. On May 13, he and his accomplices allegedly intercepted the singer’s car, abducted her at gunpoint, murdered her, and later dumped her body into the Neelo Canal before fleeing the scene.
Jamalpur Police Station SHO Balbir Singh stated that a case has been registered under the relevant sections of law, and police teams are actively working to trace and arrest the accused.
