The controversy erupted after Tabinda made remarks during one of the episodes about her husband partying with women. Reacting strongly to the viral clip, Lakshmi R Iyer took to social media to condemn what she described as the dangerous normalisation of cheating in relationships. In her post, the filmmaker wrote, “Stop normalising this bullsh*t. Stop setting terrible examples in the name of being ‘modern’ or ‘cool’.” She further added, “Being loyal is still attractive. Being honest is still attractive.” Her remarks quickly gained attention online, with several users supporting her stance against the messaging portrayed in the show.

Television actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee also reacted to Lakshmi’s statement and appeared to mock the justification presented in the episode. Commenting on the controversy, she wrote, “Apparently the man will fall in love if he meets the same woman.” Her sarcastic reaction further fuelled online discussions surrounding Desi Bling and its portrayal of relationships.

The show, which follows the extravagant lives of wealthy Indian expatriates in Dubai, has already been attracting attention for its luxurious lifestyles, billionaire culture, and dramatic interpersonal conflicts. Alongside socialites and business tycoons, the series also features television stars Karan Kundrra and Tejasswi Prakash, whose engagement on the show recently became a viral talking point.

Meanwhile, online reactions remain sharply divided. While some viewers defended the cast’s openness about unconventional relationships, many others criticised the show for glamorising toxic dynamics and patriarchal attitudes. Reddit discussions and social media commentary have particularly targeted Satish and Tabinda’s relationship, with several users calling the couple “cringe” and accusing the series of promoting regressive ideas despite its glamorous presentation.
