​Relief for Mumbai`s NEET aspirants: No day block on Central Railway on May 3 

In a relief for students appearing for NEET UG 2026, Central Railway will not operate its usual day block on Sunday, May 3.

However, a midnight mega block will be carried out on the intervening night of May 2 and 3 (Saturday–Sunday) to undertake essential engineering and maintenance works.

Main Line block

On the Main Line, services on the UP and DOWN Slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vidyavihar will be affected from 12.05 am to 5.05 am on May 3.

DOWN Slow services departing CSMT between 11.30 pm (May 2) and 4.47 am (May 3) will be diverted to the DOWN Fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar. These trains will halt at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla, before being re-diverted to the Slow line at Vidyavihar.

Similarly, UP Slow services departing Ghatkopar between 11.29 pm (May 2) and 5.04 am (May 3) will be diverted to the up Fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT, halting at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla.

  • Last DOWN local before block: CSMT–Titwala (11.16 pm from CSMT)
  • Last UP local before block: Titwala–CSMT (10.22 pm from Kalyan)
  • First DOWN local after block: CSMT–Kasara (5.07 am from CSMT)
  • First UP local after block: Titwala–CSMT (4.12 am from Kalyan)

Trans-Harbour Line block

On the Trans-Harbour line, services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will remain suspended from 11.45 pm on May 2 to 4.45 am on May 3.

DOWN services for Vashi/Nerul/Panvel departing Thane between 11.32 pm and 12.05 am will remain cancelled.

UP services for Thane departing Panvel/Nerul/Vashi between 11.09 pm and 11.15 pm will also be cancelled.

  • Last DOWN local before block: Thane–Panvel (11.14 pm from Thane)
  • Last UP local before block: Vashi–Thane (10.45 pm from Vashi)
  • First DOWN local after block: Thane–Panvel (5.12 am from Thane)
  • First UP local after block: Panvel–Thane (4.33 am from Panvel)

Central Railway said the midnight block is essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety and has appealed to passengers to bear with the inconvenience.

Central Railway announces night blocks between Kalyan and Badlapur from May 1-3

The Central Railway has announced special traffic and power blocks on the South-East lines between Kalyan and Badlapur over two consecutive nights, May 1-2 and May 2-3, to carry out overhead equipment (OHE) infringement removal work on the third and fourth lines.

According to railway officials, the first block will be undertaken between 1:40 am and 3:40 am on the night of May 1-2, covering the up and down South-East lines between Kalyan and Ambarnath, excluding both stations.

The second block is scheduled from 1:30 am to 3:30 am on the night of May 2-3. This block will affect the down South-East line between Ambarnath and Badlapur, excluding Ambarnath but including Badlapur station.

Officials said the work is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving operational safety and efficiency on the suburban network.

Suburban train services between Kalyan and Badlapur will remain suspended during the block periods on both nights.
