Mumbai: Pantnagar constable’s swift action foils chain-snatching attempt in Pant

In a display of alertness and courage, a constable from Pantnagar Police Station chased down and apprehended a chain-snatcher in a dramatic early-morning incident at Pushp Vihar Junction.

The victim, 74-year-old Kishori Mehta, was targeted by two accused—identified as Irfan and Mohammad Ali Shaukat Ali Mirza—who allegedly snatched her gold chain and attempted to flee on a motorcycle.

Police constable Ravindra Kurhe, who was on patrol duty in the area, spotted the incident and immediately gave chase. In what appeared like a scene straight out of a film, Kurhe pursued the suspects and managed to nab Mirza with swift action and presence of mind.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras in the area. The stolen gold chain has been recovered from the accused.

Senior Police Inspector Lata Sutar felicitated Constable Kurhe for his bravery and prompt response, commending his dedication to duty.

Further investigation is underway.
