Brewmaster speaks
My first adventure with coffee was in Dubai, when a colleague sourced coffee from Australia, which was originally grown in Sidama, Ethiopia. For the first time, I tasted coffee that has a lot of florals and fruits. It made me realise that coffee is not just coffee.
Tips for beginners
>> Start with fresh beans. Check the roast date, and try to brew within four to six weeks of roasting.
>> Change one thing at a time, such as grind size, dose or water temperature, so you know what made the difference.
>> Keep notes; a line or two on what you brewed and how it tasted.
>> Be curious, not snobbish.
>> Have it mid-morning, after breakfast or a little after waking.
>> Drink it fresh. Sip it hot, and then as it cools to experience flavours
>> Try it black first. Then, add what you like.
