Mammootty has begun the year on a high, receiving multiple accolades for his immense contribution to cinema. On the same day he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Bramayugam, the legendary actor was also conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan by the Central Government.
Mammootty`s Padma Bhushan honour celebrated
The milestone was celebrated on the sets of his upcoming film Padayaatra, directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan. On the sets, the Malayalam cinema superstar was felicitated by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, who draped a shawl around him and presented him with a bouquet of flowers. The team later cut a cake to mark the occasion. Actors Grace Antony and Indrans, who play key roles in the film, were also present during the celebrations.

The Padma Awards for 2026 were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of Republic Day, recognising individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and made a lasting impact across diverse fields.
Alongside Mammootty, renowned playback singer Alka Yagnik has also been named for the Padma Bhushan.
Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, Mammootty said, “Santosham, athi santhosham… there is nothing bigger than the honour from the country.”
About Padayaatra
Padayaatra marks the fourth collaboration between Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Apart from Mammootty, the film also stars Indrans, Grace Antony, Sreeshma Chandran, and Zeenath, among others.
The film is being produced by Mammootty’s production banner Mammootty Kampany in association with Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. The story, screenplay, and dialogues have been penned by Adoor Gopalakrishnan along with K V Mohan Kumar.
Shehnad Jalal serves as the cinematographer, while Mujeeb Majeed has composed the music. Editing is handled by Praveen Prabhakar, with Shajie Naduvil as the production designer. Makeup is by Ronex Xavier and George Sebastian, while costumes are designed by S B Satheesan. Kishan Mohan is in charge of sound design. George Sebastian is the executive producer, and Meera Sahib serves as the associate director.
Meanwhile, Mammootty’s other highly anticipated film, Patriot, which also features Mohanlal in a key role, is slated to hit screens on April 23 this year.
