Actress Edin Rose, who is gearing up for a prominent role in the highly anticipated Jailer 2, recently opened up about her journey in the entertainment industry, facing body-shaming in Bollywood, her experience working with Ravi Teja, and why she no longer sees herself doing reality shows. In an exclusive chat with mid-day, the actress candidly reflected on her career and future aspirations.
Eid Rose talks about her experience in South Cinema
Speaking about her experience in South cinema, Edin said she has always felt welcomed and appreciated there. “I really appreciate working down south. It`s because they are so welcoming. They are so open to new talent,” she shared. Despite being South Indian by origin, the actress admitted she is still learning the regional languages. “Essentially, I am south Indian, but I don`t speak the languages and I am right now learning them. So for me as a fresher, as a newcomer, I felt like it was really open. It was so easy to work with them.”
She further added, “There were no barriers. There was no differentiation or anything along those lines. I had the talent, I did the auditions and I got the work. So it`s been pretty smooth.”
On facing rejections in Bollywood
However, Edin revealed that her initial experiences in Bollywood were not encouraging. The actress shared that she was rejected from projects because of her body type. “I think in my initial days, I got turned down from a few projects here in Bollywood because of my body type,” she said.
Opening up about body-shaming, Edin explained, “Because I am on the curvier side and I was told to make my hips lesser, which is very unrealistic because that`s literally a bone structure. I could lose chubbiness, but I could not push my bones in. I am broad from the bottom. So if anything, I have faced an issue with the body and stuff here in Bollywood.”
On working with Ravi Teja
Talking about actor Ravi Teja, the actress praised his energy and supportive nature. “I`ve been on set with him twice. Once at my debut, like my first project and once off late. I noticed one thing in the span of four years, if anything, this man`s energy is still the same,” she shared.
Edin added, “This man is like a live wire on set. He has so much energy and he`s so sweet to work with.” She also recalled how Ravi Teja comforted her during her first shoot together by telling her, “Don`t be nervous. If you were to take retakes, I`ll take them with you.”
The actress further revealed that she wants to explore Bollywood and international cinema in the future. While reflecting on her Bigg Boss stint, she admitted reality television is “a big no” for her now, adding that acting remains her true passion.
