Film body Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has announced a non-cooperation directive (NCD) against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh after Farhan Akhtar raised a grievance against the `Dhurandhar` actor following his exit from Don 3. Ranveer Singh reportedly made a major financial offer to Excel Entertainment during a high-profile industry meeting held in March to smoothen matters around the film.
Ranveer Singh’s peace offer to Excel Entertainment
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, a crucial meeting took place in the presence of several leading industry personalities, including Aamir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, and Ritesh Sidhwani, among others, in the first week of March. It was during this meeting that Ranveer Singh, through his team, made a special offer to Excel Entertainment.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Ranveer’s team offered to pay Rs. 10 crores upfront to Excel Entertainment. In addition, they also offered a discount of Rs. 25 crores on any other film that Excel may want to do with him outside of Don 3. The idea was to compensate Excel immediately while also keeping the professional relationship open for the future.”
However, the offer did not find favour with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. According to the source, the Excel team felt that the offer of a future discount made no practical sense, as they had no intention of collaborating with Ranveer again. “They felt that the delays, uncertainty, and the eventual fallout had caused them serious financial and professional damage.”
About Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar’s feud
Ranveer Singh has come under scrutiny after Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani sought the intervention of film bodies over the actor`s exit from Don 3. The producers of Excel Entertainment also sought Rs. 45 crore in compensation from the actor, claiming they had incurred substantial pre-production expenses.
Despite receiving multiple invitations from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to present his side of the story, Ranveer did not appear before the film body, which eventually led to a non-cooperation directive being imposed against him. FWICE also clarified that it is “not a ban” but a non-cooperation notice asking its members not to work with the actor until the matter is resolved.
