The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will operate 58 extra buses across selected routes in Mumbai on Bakri Eid and Basi Eid to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic.
According to BEST officials, additional buses will be deployed on Thursday, May 28, for Bakri Eid celebrations and on Friday, May 29, for Basi Eid, when large crowds are expected to travel across various parts of the city and suburbs.
Several popular locations, including Gateway of India, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk, Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Zoo, Mohammed Ali Road, Haji Ali Dargah, Shivaji Nagar, Mahim Dargah, Bandra Bandstand, and Juhu Chowpatty, are expected to witness heavy footfall during the celebrations.
To ensure smooth travel and crowd management, BEST will also deploy bus inspectors at major stops and crowded areas to assist commuters and regulate operations.
BEST has appealed to commuters to make maximum use of the additional bus services during the festive period to avoid inconvenience and ensure safer travel.
