​BMC announces water cut in eastern suburbs on May 5 and 6 

Several areas in eastern suburbs of Mumbai including Chembur and Ghatkopar will face water cut on May 5 and 6, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday.

The Mumbai civic body has scheduled essential maintenance works during this period, affecting water supply in multiple wards of BMC in eastern Mumbai.

According to the official statement issued by the BMC, during this period, water supply will remain suspended in certain areas within the City Zone (F-North and F-South Wards) and the Eastern Suburbs (L, M-East, M-West, and N Wards). Additionally, water supply will be provided at reduced pressure in other specific locations.

Areas to be affected by water cut on May 5

F North Ward-

Pratiksha Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Shanti Nagar, H.M. Marg, K.D. Gaikwad Nagar, Wadala Truck Terminus, New Cuffe Parade, Almeida Complex, Mahul, Ambapada, Mysore Colony, and Vashi Naka will face identical disruptions.

F South Ward –

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marg, Dinshaw Petit Marg, S.S. Rao Marg, Dr. Ernest Borges Marg, Parmar Guruji Marg, Gokhale Marg, N.M.G.S. Marg, Dadasaheb Phalke Marg, Govindji Kenia Marg, Jerbai Wadia Marg, B.J. Devrukhkar Marg, St. Paul Marg, St. Xavier Marg, Khashaba Marg, Mahadev Palav Marg, Jijibhoy Lane, Acharya Donde Marg, Vitthal Chavan Marg, Jagannath Bhatankar Marg, Batliwala Galli, Chamar Baug Marg, Ai Mai Merwanji Marg, Shirodkar Marg, Chivda Galli, Sane Guruji Marg, Anand Malvankar Marg, Gas Company Galli.

Officials further said that the water supply that will remain suspended on May 5 will resume with low pressure the following day, on May 6.

L Ward-

M East Ward-

N- Ward

Vidyavihar (East), Chittaranjan Nagar, and Rajawadi will have no water supply on May 6. Furthermore, the entire Ghatkopar (East) division—including Pant Nagar, Garodia Nagar, and Ramabai Nagar

Furthermore, select pockets in Ghatkopar (West) and Vidyavihar (West), including areas near LBS Marg, Shreyas Cinema Road, and Chirag Nagar, will also experience water suspension on both days. Key facilities such as Sarvodaya Hospital and nearby residential pockets will be impacted as well.

The civic body has urged residents to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the disruption period. Officials stated that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to carry out critical infrastructure upgrades and ensure improved water supply in the long run.
