Mumbai city and its suburbs are expected to witness mainly clear skies, with temperatures likely to range between 24 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius, resulting in warm conditions through the day.
According to the Centre’s SAMEER app, the city recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 62 at 9 am, placing it in the ‘satisfactory’ category. This marks an improvement compared to Wednesday, when the AQI stood slightly higher at 73.
Air quality, however, varied across different parts of the city. Sion recorded an AQI of 102, falling under the ‘moderate’ category and indicating relatively higher pollution levels in that area.
Several other locations across Mumbai reported satisfactory air quality, including Bandra-Kurla Complex (66), Byculla (67), Chakala (68), Deonar (93), Bandra East (69), Malad West (67), Mazgaon (54), and Navy Nagar (67), suggesting acceptable conditions.
Meanwhile, areas such as Worli (49), Sewri (39), Powai (43), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (43), and Malad West (45) recorded ‘good’ air quality levels, indicating cleaner air compared to most other parts of the city.
Mulund West recorded the lowest AQI at 18, making it the cleanest location among those monitored.
Overall, Mumbai’s air quality remains largely satisfactory, with only a few pockets experiencing moderate pollution. While conditions are generally safe for the public, sensitive individuals may experience minor breathing discomfort and are advised to take basic precautions.
Delhi sees day temperature at 25.4 degC, IMD forecasts rain in some places
The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung on Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting thunderstorms with rain at isolated places later in the day.
The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius, with forecasts indicating thunderstorm activity accompanied by rain in isolated places.
The city`s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 136, placing it in the `moderate` category.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, an AQI of 0-50 is considered `good`, 51-100 `satisfactory`, 101-200 `moderate`, 201-300 `poor`, 301-400 `very poor`, and 401-500 `severe`.
