​Maharashtra weather update: State reels under intense heatwave 

Maharashtra continued to reel under intense heat on Monday, with several regions recording temperatures well above normal, according to data from the India Meteorological Department.

Vidarbha bears the brunt

In Vidarbha, Amravati recorded the highest maximum temperature at 46.6 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Akola at 46.3 degrees Celsius and Wardha at 46.5 degrees Celsius, highlighting severe heatwave conditions across the region.

Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra also scorched

Parts of Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra also witnessed high temperatures, with Jalgaon recording 44.6 degrees Celsius, Solapur 43.9 degrees Celsius, and Lohgaon, near Pune, touching 42.1 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai sees humid but lower temperatures

In the Konkan region, including Mumbai, temperatures remained comparatively lower but humid, with Mumbai recording a maximum of 34.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.7 degrees Celsius.

Mahabaleshwar records lowest minimum

Meanwhile, the hill station Mahabaleshwar recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 21.2 degrees Celsius.

No rainfall across state

No rainfall was recorded at major stations across the state during the period.

Hot conditions to persist in Pune

For Tuesday, Pune is expected to witness mainly clear skies, with temperatures likely to hover around 41 degrees Celsius (maximum) and 24 degrees Celsius (minimum), indicating continued hot conditions.

IMD issues alerts across districts

Officials said the prevailing dry weather and rising temperatures point to persistent heatwave conditions across several parts of Maharashtra.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Thane, Palghar, and Raigad, predicting hot and humid conditions in isolated pockets of these districts.

Orange alert for Vidarbha districts

The IMD has also forecast heatwave conditions in several other districts across Maharashtra, including Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, and Jalgaon.

Meanwhile, Akola and Amravati are under an orange alert, as these districts are likely to experience severe heatwave conditions.

Akola hottest in the country

Earlier today, Akola recorded the highest temperature in the country on Monday at 46.9 degrees Celsius.

National weather update

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department, in its latest national weather update, said that heatwave conditions are likely to persist over parts of northwest and central India today before gradually easing thereafter.
