That hum saath saath hain feeling

Acting is a fulfilling experience for lyricist, composer, singer, and creator Swanand Kirkire. But acting in a Sooraj Barjatya film takes on a different meaning for him. The multi-faceted artiste, who features in Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari-led Yeh Prem Mol Liya, is of the firm belief that Barjatya’s family dramas are necessary in today’s times of generational divide.

“There is something special about films that families can watch together, where different generations sit in the same room, laugh at the same moments, and feel the same emotions. That shared experience is becoming increasingly rare, but it’s important,” said Kirkire.

Like the filmmaker’s previous offerings, Yeh Prem Mol Liya is speculated to be a story about family, values, and the strength of bonds. According to Kirkire, such movies transcend storytelling to “become a part of family memories”. He explained, “I think in today’s individualistic world, there’s a strong need to bring back that culture of collective viewing, where cinema becomes a bridge between generations. As an actor, being part of such a film is fulfilling. It’s about creating moments that families can cherish together. For me, this film is a reminder of the kind of cinema that unites us.”
