CR night block on April 24 to impact trains between Titwala and Vasind

The Central Railway will carry out a special traffic and power block between Titwala and Vasind stations in the early hours of April 24 to facilitate infrastructure upgrades aimed at accommodating longer suburban train rakes.

The block, scheduled between 2:10 am and 3:25 am, will affect both Up and Down lines on the stretch between Titwala (inclusive) and Vasind (exclusive). Railway officials said the work is part of an ongoing effort to extend platforms and improve operational capacity on the route.

Upgrade Work to Support Longer Trains

According to railway authorities, the block is required to undertake infringement removal and overhead equipment (OHE) work, including the installation and activation of new points at Titwala and Khadavli stations. These upgrades are linked to platform extension works that will allow the operation of 15-coach suburban trains in the future.

At present, many suburban services operate with shorter rakes, and the move to longer formations is expected to help ease congestion, particularly during peak hours on the busy Central Railway network.

Train Services to Be Regulated

Due to the block, several long-distance trains passing through the section during the scheduled window will be temporarily regulated at different stations. Officials confirmed that train movements will be controlled between 2:27 am and 3:25 am.

The affected services include:

– 12102 Shalimar–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Jnaneswari Express, which will be regulated at Vasind
– 18030 Shalimar–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, to be regulated at Asangaon
– 12810 Howrah–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Express, to be regulated at Atgaon
– 12132 Sainagar Shirdi–Dadar Express, to be regulated at Khardi
– 20104 Bhatni–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, to be regulated at Kasara
– 01026 Ballia–Dadar Express, to be regulated at Igatpuri

Railway officials indicated that the regulation is necessary to ensure safe execution of the engineering and electrical work during the block period.

Focus on Safety and Capacity Enhancement

Authorities emphasised that such blocks are routinely undertaken to maintain and upgrade railway infrastructure, ensuring smoother and safer operations across the network. The extension of platforms to handle 15-coach trains is part of a broader capacity augmentation plan.

Passengers travelling on the affected routes during the early morning hours have been advised to check train schedules in advance and expect minor delays.

The railway administration has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused but maintained that the temporary disruption is essential for long-term improvements in service efficiency and passenger comfort.
