The Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department has extended the registration deadline for the second attempt of the MHT CET examination for PCM and PCB streams to April 23, 2026. The decision comes after multiple representations from students who were unable to complete their applications within the earlier deadline.
The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai, which conducts the MHT CET for admissions to engineering, pharmacy and agriculture courses for the 2026–27 academic year, will reopen the registration portal for one day to facilitate pending applications.
Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil said the extension was granted in response to difficulties faced by candidates during the registration process. He urged students to make use of the limited window and complete their applications in time.
Incomplete Applications Prompt Extension
Officials indicated that several candidates had initiated the registration process but could not complete it due to pending fee payments or other procedural issues. The additional window is aimed at allowing such candidates to finalise their applications.
Students opting to register during this extended period will be required to pay a late fee of Rs 500, applicable across all categories. Authorities clarified that candidates who have already registered for both attempts do not need to apply again.
APAAR ID Mandatory for Registration
As part of the application requirements, candidates must generate an APAAR ID before completing the registration process. This can be done through DigiLocker. Officials noted that failure to create the ID may result in an incomplete application.
No correction or edit facility will be provided for applications submitted during this special extension period. Students have therefore been advised to carefully verify all details before final submission to avoid errors that cannot be rectified later.
Final Opportunity for Eligible Candidates
The department has described this as the final opportunity for students who missed the earlier deadline. The minister reiterated that candidates should not delay their applications and complete the process within the stipulated timeframe.
Students have been advised to refer to the official MHT CET website for detailed schedules, instructions and updates related to the examination.
