Why you should check out this interesting podcast episode exploring Indian food

Indian street food has a character of its own. From vada pav and pani puri to street-side versions of Hakka noodles, these favourites pack bold flavours. On The Splendid Table, James Beard Award-winning chef Meherwan Irani brings these street-side classics into home kitchens.

Meherwan Irani

The author of The No. 1 Best Indian Cookbook in the World, Irani discusses vada pav made with spiced potato croquettes coated in chickpea batter and pani puri filled with spiced potatoes and tamarind chutney. He also shares his recipe for Roadside Hakka Noodles, inspired by a beloved street-side staple.

The episode then turns to Chinese-American actress Ming-Na Wen. Her cookbook, Have You Eaten Yet: Family Recipes from a Restaurant Daughter, draws on memories of growing up in her family’s restaurant.
