NCP leaders to launch statewide tour for expansion: Sunil Tatkare

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Maharashtra unit President and MP Sunil Tatkare on Thursday said the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) would soon launch a joint statewide tour aimed at strengthening the party organisation and expanding its base across Maharashtra, reported IANS.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Tatkare said internal misunderstandings within the party had been resolved and leaders would now work collectively to reinforce the organisation ahead of future political challenges, reported IANS.

Tatkare says internal issues have been resolved

Tatkare stated that discussions among senior party leaders had helped clear differences that had surfaced in recent weeks following the announcement of the party’s national executive, reported IANS.

“All misunderstandings within the party have been resolved,” he said, adding that leaders and workers would jointly travel across Maharashtra as part of an organisational outreach programme.

The statewide tour is expected to focus on strengthening the party structure at the grassroots level and mobilising workers across districts.

Revised letter to Election Commission to be submitted

Tatkare also said the party would soon submit a revised letter to the Election Commission of India regarding the composition of the NCP’s national executive, reported IANS.

According to him, senior leaders held detailed discussions on the matter during an internal meeting and agreed on corrective steps.

The issue had triggered controversy within the party after several senior leaders, including Praful Patel, Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse Patil, were reportedly excluded from the newly constituted national executive list.

In addition, a letter submitted to the poll panel on April 29 allegedly did not mention Patel as the party’s national working president or Tatkare as the Maharashtra unit chief.

Senior leaders reached out after controversy

Following discontent within the party ranks, NCP president and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, along with her sons Parth and Jay, reportedly reached out to Praful Patel and Tatkare to assure them that a fresh communication would be sent to the Election Commission correcting what was described as a clerical error.

Tatkare’s remarks are being viewed as an attempt to project unity within the party after speculation over internal tensions gained attention in recent days.

Tatkare dismisses merger speculation

When asked about rumours of a possible merger involving factions led by Sharad Pawar, Tatkare dismissed the speculation and said there was nothing further to discuss on the matter, reported IANS.

He pointed out that leaders from the Sharad Pawar faction, including State President Shashikant Shinde and MP Supriya Sule, had already clarified their positions publicly.

“Nothing remains to be discussed on that issue anymore,” Tatkare said.

NCP to continue with NDA alliance

Tatkare reiterated that the NCP remains a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance and would continue working with the Bharatiya Janata Party at both the Centre and state levels, reported IANS.

He also said the party continued to draw inspiration from leaders including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, B. R. Ambedkar and Yashwantrao Chavan.

Tatkare said decisions within the party were taken collectively and stressed that the organisation would continue focusing on development-oriented politics in the coming months.
