Not out, not giving up

Impossible dreams come true. Cricketer Amir Hussain Lone is the personification of that truth. Lone, who lost his arms in an accident at the age of eight, didn’t let that deter him from realising his dream of turning cricketer, even becoming the captain of Jammu and Kashmir para cricket team. Now, a dream that he never dreamt has come true — a biopic on his life was announced at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.

The movie, a story of the indomitable human spirit, will be directed by Nishil Sheth. Five years ago, the heads at Pickle Entertainment and Aarambh Productions approached Lone for the biopic. “I had a cricket match in Mumbai. That’s when the news spread that there was a cricketer from Kashmir, who was armless, but was representing his country. Later, the makers visited me in Kashmir and were shocked listening to my story,” said Lone, speaking exclusively to mid-day.

According to him, he is the best fit to play the protagonist. But he wishes to see a particular superstar in his life story. “I wish Amitabh Bachchan plays a part in the film. I met him in Mumbai some time ago, and it was a beautiful experience.”
