A fire broke out at a wooden furniture warehouse in Bhatti Galli area of Shil in Diva, Thane district, on Thursday morning, officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell said.
According to information received from the Shil Fire Station, the incident was reported at around 8:10 am on May 14. The fire erupted in a warehouse storing wooden cupboards and plywood materials.
The warehouse, owned by Abid Khan, was spread across nearly 900 square feet.
Firefighters deploy engines and rescue vehicle
Station Officer Sarnobat and personnel from the Shil Fire Station rushed to the spot with two fire engines and one rescue vehicle to contain the blaze.
Officials said no injuries were reported in the incident.
Materials inside warehouse completely destroyed
The fire caused extensive damage to the warehouse, with all materials stored inside being completely gutted.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control and fully extinguished it at around 11:01 am. Authorities said the situation is now under control.
40 electric meters gutted in fire at Thane building
In another incident, a fire broke out in the electric meter room of a residential building in Maharashtra`s Thane city on Monday, destroying 40 meters, civic officials said.
No person was injured in the blaze, which started at 4.08 am on the ground floor of the seven-storey `Anand Vilha` building located in the Charai area, Thane`s regional disaster management cell (RDMC) chief Yasin Tadvi said.
Residents of 40 flats rushed out to safety after the blaze erupted.
Fire personnel, RDMC staff and police rushed to the spot after being alerted.
“A total of 40 electric meters were gutted in the fire,” the official stated.
The fire brigade prevented the flames from spreading to the upper floors of the residential structure, and the blaze was doused by 4.40 am, he said.
A short-circuit in the electrical wiring is suspected to have triggered the fire, he said, adding that a probe was on to ascertain the exact cause of the blaze.
The building`s power supply was temporarily disconnected as a precautionary measure during cooling operations.
