Indulge in this immersive art workshop online to explore your hobby

Most artists are introverts, and broke.” Divya Gaur, an IIT Bombay Design graduate who illustrates for a top publishing house, makes a candid admission. Faridabad-based Gaur now runs an online community called Sketch Clubhouse, where nearly 250 artists and working professionals meet every weekend, forget about finances, and paint for the love of art.

Divya Gaur and Amulya Deshmukh

If we were you, we’d take Gaur’s words with a pinch of salt — after all, the household staple is at the heart of the club’s first art workshop led by National Institute of Design Ahmedabad graduate Amulya Deshmukh. From collegians to retired professionals looking to pick up a hobby in their sunset years, Gaur says the door, an online meeting link in this case, is open to all.

How does salt create art?

» When salt is sprinkled on watercolour or ink, the mineral absorbs moisture, and pulls the pigment towards the salt crystals.
»This simple chemical reaction creates random, visually striking patterns and textures on the canvas.
