Vijay’s personal life has taken centre stage after his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam filed for divorce last month. The petition comes months before Vijay’s political debut in the Tamil Nadu State Assembly polls. Sangeetha has accused Vijay of having an extramarital affair. While she did not name anyone in the petition, several reports suggest that the actress referred to in the filing is Trisha Krishnan.
Vijay`s son drops father`s name
Amid the ongoing divorce proceedings, it appears that Vijay and Sangeetha’s son Jason Sanjay may have subtly taken sides. The young filmmaker has reportedly made a small but notable change to his official name, seemingly indicating support for his mother.
According to multiple reports, Jason Sanjay now refers to himself as Jason Sanjay S, with the “S” believed to represent his mother’s name, Sangeetha. In Tamil Nadu, it is common for children to use their father’s name as an initial.
Jason Sanjay recently made his directorial debut with the short film Sigma, which received praise for its creative storytelling and technical execution. Reports suggest he may continue using the “S” initial in the credits of his upcoming projects.
Jason Sanjay unfollowed Vijay on Instagram?
After news of trouble in Vijay’s marriage surfaced, some social media users claimed that Jason no longer follows his father’s Instagram account. However, others pointed out that he may have never followed Vijay in the first place. There is currently no clarity on whether he unfollowed him recently or if he was never following him.
On Instagram, Jason follows around 36 people, including several well-known film personalities such as Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akhtar, Bejoy Nambiar, S Thaman and James Cameron. However, he does not follow his father on the platform.
About Vijay and Sangeetha’s divorce
Vijay, who is also the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is currently facing divorce proceedings after Sangeetha filed a petition in the Chengalpattu family court.
The petition comes amid reports that Sangeetha has been living separately from the actor. According to the filing, she has accused Vijay of infidelity, alleging that he was involved in an “adulterous relationship” with an actress.
The petition states that in April 2021, Sangeetha discovered the alleged relationship, which caused her “deep emotional pain and mental suffering,” amounting to betrayal and a violation of marital trust. It further claims that Vijay continued to publicly associate with the actress, causing emotional distress and embarrassment to their children.
The filing also alleges that since 2021, Vijay had emotionally withdrawn from the marriage, treated his wife with verbal disdain and subjected her to constructive desertion, forcing her to live separately within the matrimonial home. It further claims that Vijay continued to travel abroad and attend public events with the said actress.
