Uncontrolled loaded freight train rolls down between Palasdari-Karjat stations

A major tragedy was averted after an uncontrolled loaded freight train rolled down a gradient between Palasdari and Karjat railway stations in Maharashtra, following which the Central Railway has launched a probe into the incident, officials said on Thursday.

Sources said that the goods train was carrying cargo and it started rolling down a slope.

The incident led to alerting railway officials who rushed to the spot and ordered an investigation into the incident.

According to initial information, trainee loco pilots were also among those operating the train and reportedly could not properly control it while it was going downhill.

A Central Railway spokesperson confirmed the incident to mid-day and said a detailed investigation has been started to find out exact case of the incident and person responsible for it.
