Smriti Irani, an actress-turned-politician, recently responded to rumors that Ektaa Kapoor`s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 would be shot in Mumbai under heavy security. She denied claims of Z plus security during her appearances on set.
In an interview with Mashable, she described how the news had initially confused and amused her, “I was really surprised when this news about me was circulated – that I would be shooting under Z plus security, with tight protection. I had a hearty laugh,” Irani stated.
She went on to recount a humorous incident on set when the Mashable team came to interview her. “The umbrella guy suddenly appeared with an umbrella near me. Apparently, the production team thought that showing some grandeur was necessary. I was like, `What is happening? Nothing like this has happened to me before`,” she added.
Before the first episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 aired, a May 2025 article in India Forums said that the actress was given Z Plus security on the shoot. A source told the portal that there are security protocols in place on the sets where mobile phones will be recorded. “The cell phones of everyone on the sets, except Amar (Upadhyay) sir, Smriti ma`am, and Ektaa (Kapoor) ma`am, will be taped. Everyone will be prohibited from using cell phones. Smriti is also shooting with Z Plus security, and everyone on set must follow the tight security rules,” according to the reports.
