Salim Khan to be discharged after month long brain haemorrhage treatment

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan is expected to be discharged from hospital after spending nearly a month undergoing treatment following a minor brain haemorrhage. The 90-year-old writer had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital on February 17 after experiencing age-related health complications.

Salim Khan to get discharged

According to hospital sources, Salim Khan’s condition has improved significantly in recent weeks and doctors now believe he is stable enough to return home. During his hospital stay, he remained under the supervision of senior consultant Dr. Jaleel Parkar, while neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange closely monitored his neurological condition.

Doctors had earlier revealed that the veteran writer suffered a “minimal brain haemorrhage.” To assess the condition of his brain’s blood vessels and rule out any serious complications, the medical team performed a procedure known as Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA). This specialised test helps doctors examine blood vessels in the brain and detect issues such as aneurysms, abnormal connections between arteries and veins, or blockages that could affect blood flow.

Following the procedure, Salim Khan continued to remain under observation as doctors monitored his recovery. Medical experts noted that because of his age, his recovery required careful monitoring and additional time. However, they confirmed that the treatment had been successful and that he was responding well to the medical care provided.

A month long hospitalisation

During his hospitalisation, members of the Khan family frequently visited him and stayed closely involved in his recovery. His sons — Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan — were regularly seen at the hospital offering their support. Several well-known personalities from the film industry also reportedly visited him during this period, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and his longtime collaborator Javed Akhtar.

Earlier, Arbaaz Khan had briefly spoken about his father’s health during a media interaction, reassuring fans that the veteran writer was recovering well and would likely return home soon. The update brought relief to many admirers of the legendary writer and members of the film fraternity.

Salim Khan remains one of the most influential figures in Hindi cinema. As part of the iconic writing duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, the pair helped transform Bollywood storytelling during the 1970s and 1980s. Together they wrote several landmark films, including Sholay, Deewar and Don, which continue to be regarded as classics.

With his condition now improving steadily, fans and colleagues alike are relieved that the celebrated screenwriter is expected to return home after nearly a month in hospital.
