​Mumbai: One injured in Wadala fire, blaze damages salon and garment unit 

A fire broke out during the early hours of Monday, May 4, at a ground-floor commercial unit in Wadala (East), injuring one person and damaging property, officials said.

According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the incident was reported at 1:34 am from a structure located on Salt Pan Road in Sangam Nagar, near a mobile shop. 

Level-1 fire declared

Firefighters rushed to the spot and found that the fire was confined to a hair-cutting salon, affecting electrical wiring, installations, and salon equipment. The fire was later declared level-1 by the authorities. 

The flames later spread to the adjoining garment unit at the rear, damaging sewing machines, clothes rolls, raw materials, and furniture on the ground and mezzanine floors of the building, which has a ground-plus-two-floor structure.

Fire extinguished at 6:00 am

The fire brigade managed to bring the situation under control, and the blaze was completely extinguished by 6:00 am.

One person, identified as 65-year-old Mohd Umar, sustained 8-9 per cent burn injuries in the incident. He was rushed to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, where doctors said his condition was stable.

Officials said no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is suspected to be related to electrical installations, though further investigation is underway.

Fire erupts at electrical unit in Wagle Estate; no injuries reported

In a different scenario, a fire broke out during the early hours of Monday, May 4, at a power distribution unit in Dnyaneshwar Nagar of Wagle Estate in Thane (West). The fire outbreak in Thane prompted a swift response from emergency services.

According to the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the incident was reported at approximately 2:55 am. 

As per the officials, the blaze occurred at a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (Mahavitaran) electrical distribution point (DP) located near a police chowki in the area.

Soon after receiving the information, the fire brigade teams rushed to the spot with one fire tender and a rescue vehicle. Along with the fire brigade, personnel from Mahavitaran were also present to assist in managing the situation and ensuring safety protocols were followed.

Fire extinguished at 3:20 am 

Officials confirmed that the fire was brought under control and completely extinguished by around 3:20 am. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire, and further investigation is expected.
