Mammootty opens up on 2025 health scare that temporarily paused his career

Veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty has spoken candidly about the health scare in 2025 that briefly forced him to pause his career. Addressing the issue publicly, the actor revealed that he temporarily lost his sense of smell and taste, an experience that deeply impacted his outlook on life.

Mammootty talks about his health scare

Opening up about the ordeal, Mammootty said, “Eyesight and hearing are very important aspects of human life. Even while breathing, some people are unable to smell anything. I was unable to smell or taste anything for a long time.” His words highlighted how unsettling the condition was and how it changed his understanding of everyday abilities.

Reflecting on the experience, he added, “We only understand the value of such abilities when we lose them.” The actor emphasised that people often take their senses for granted until they are confronted with the possibility of losing them.

Mammootty further explained the importance of hearing by offering simple examples from daily life. “When we ask someone to lower the volume or speak in a softer voice, it is because we can hear. People who cannot hear would never say such things.” He continued, “Some people don’t even realise the privilege they have in being able to like or dislike a song, while others simply wish to hear something in their lives. Hearing is a godly blessing.”

Mammootty on his temporary setback

His remarks resonated strongly with fans, especially after speculation about his health had circulated during his absence from work last year. While rumours had suggested serious concerns, his team had earlier dismissed them. The actor’s own explanation now sheds light on what he was going through during that period.

Despite the temporary setback, Mammootty has since recovered and resumed his professional commitments. He is currently working on multiple projects, including a film with Mohanlal and a Tamil venture alongside Dhanush. His return to sets marks a strong comeback after a challenging phase.

By sharing his personal struggle, Mammootty not only addressed concerns about his health but also offered a thoughtful reminder about gratitude and the value of life’s simplest blessings.
