Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently launched the ‘Bright Bus’ initiative at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai, a mobile classroom project aimed at promoting digital literacy and women`s empowerment. Started under MLA Prasad Lad’s “Mee Mumbai Abhiyan Abhiman Pratishthan” and supported by Crocs India and the TSL Foundation, the project blends education and essential services on wheels.
The Bright Bus, an air-conditioned digital classroom on wheels, is fitted with projectors, TVs, a sound system, and 20 computers. In the mornings, it will visit schools to provide digital learning to students, while in the afternoons, it will double up as a mobile help centre, offering access to Aadhaar services, assistance with government schemes, and help filling out online forms.
Launched across five BMC schools in Mumbai, the project is designed to reach communities that often get left out of digital initiatives. Beyond basic training, the bus will also host storytelling sessions, workshops, and skill development programmes aimed at building confidence and awareness in underserved areas.
MLA Prasad Lad described the initiative as a step toward inclusive growth, saying that the Bright Bus isn’t just a tool for education; it’s about making sure opportunities reach the people who need them most. With the support of Fadnavis and private partners like Crocs and TSL Foundation, the project shows how collaboration can help bridge long-standing gaps in access to technology and learning.

App-based buses, cars, and bike taxis operating in the state must adhere to legal norms while conducting business, said Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. He has directed that strict legal action be taken against any private transport services—whether buses, cars or bike taxis—that violate regulations.
He was speaking at a meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan to discuss various issues related to app-based transport services. Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar and other senior officials from the Transport Department were also present at the meeting.
Transport Minister Sarnaik stated that all app-based buses, cars and bike taxis must operate in compliance with legal requirements. The state government will take strict action against those violating its rules.
